Collin Barry Ph.D

Director

Collin Barry enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1999 from Tucumcari, NM.  After recruit and combat training on the West Coast, Private First Class Barry attained the MOS of 2311-Ammunition Technician at Redstone Arsenal Army Post, Huntsville, AL in December 1999.  After serving at 1st Supply Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA for one year, Corporal Barry executed orders to 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, I Marine Expeditionary Force to serve as the Ammunition Chief.  

In October 2001, Corporal Barry was promoted to Sergeant, passed the 8 hour Force Recon physical indoctrination test, and later graduated the Basic Reconnaissance Course in Coronado, CA in June 2002, earning the MOS of 0321-Recon Marine.  Sergeant Barry then deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom I in 2003 and Iraqi Freedom II in 2004. 

 

In August 2006, after 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit pre-deployment training, Sergeant Barry executed orders to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, promoting to Staff Sergeant in October.  In August 2009, Staff Sergeant Barry executed orders to serve as an 0913 Combat Instructor at the Basic Reconnaissance Course at Camp Pendleton, CA, promoting to Gunnery Sergeant in February 2010.  

After four years as a course Platoon Sergeant, Chief Instructor, and Course Chief, Gunnery Sergeant Barry executed orders to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, promoting to First Sergeant in February 2014 and serving in Company C.  In December 2014, First Sergeant Barry executed orders to Communications Company, Headquarters Regiment, 3d Marine Logistics Group, served two years, and then executed orders to Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, U.S.

 

Marine Corps Forces Command where he served as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant.  He was promoted to his current rank in December 2017, executing orders to Marine Attack Squadron 311, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, Yuma, AZ, subsequently deploying in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.  He executes orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13, Yuma, AZ in March 2021.   

Sergeant Major Barry earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Global Leadership & Organizational Management from the Indiana Institute of Technology, Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University, and Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of New Mexico.  He is a graduate of Army Airborne, Special Forces Military Freefall, Combatant Diver, Special Operations Explosive Breaching, Special Operations Close Quarters Tactics, Multi-Mission Parachute System, Survival Evasion Resistance & Escape, 0331 Machine Gunner, High-Risk Protection & Security Operations, and Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques.
